The Deutsches Herzzentrum Berlin (DHZB, German Heart Institute Berlin) is a specialist center for heart treatment with a worldwide reputation for excellence. Each year around 3,500 operations are performed using the heart-lung machine and over 1,000 other operations on the heart and blood vessels.
In addition, about 4,000 diagnostic and more than 1,500 invasive procedures (heart catheterization) are carried out in patients with congenital (inborn) heart defects, mainly children, and acquired heart problems.
