It is the strategy of the Berlin-Brandenburg region to network of the strong scientific and industrial capacities in selected focus areas and to turn them into competence centers of international acclaim.
In biotechnology, these are primarily the research fields of genomics, proteomics, biohybrid technologies, regenerative medicine, and nutrigenomics, which are characterized by a strongly expanding market volume. These core areas of biotechnology in Berlin-Brandenburg are supplemented by important enabling technologies.
In these areas, there are strong regional networks, which at the same time have supraregional and international ties. They advance the transfer of technology and research as well as cooperation between companies and are very successful in attracting venture capital.
